Kumasi Zoo positioned right at the heart of the city. Officially the Kumasi Zoological Garden - commonly called Kumasi Zoo was established in 1951 and officially opened in 1957 by the Asanteman Council. The Kumasi Zoo exhibits approximately 60 animal species, including buffalo, chimpanzees and other primates, elephants and lions, as well as reptiles and birds.
