Lake Bosomtwi
Located 31 Kilometres North -East of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, it is the only big natural lake in the whole West African Forest Zone. It is also one of the world's largest crater lakes. Lake Bosomtwi is ascenic attraction of immense beauty . It is an ideal place for swimming and cruising.
Brong Ahafo Region
Buom Caves
These are found at Buom (near Zabrama) approximately 8km from Techiman. , Brong Ahafo Region. It consists of three large caves situated in a sandstone canyon near the village of Buoyem. These are hallowed out structures inside rocks. They are incident in nature and can accommodate about 500 people at a goal. It is believed to contain gold deposits. It is now a scenic attraction for tourists. It is believed to be an abode for some supernatural spirits. The sprit is believed to be the Guardian of the gold deposits embedded in the rocks.
Theses caves served as a place where the Bono people retreated in the 18th century after their defeat by the Ashanti. There is a nearby dry semi-deciduous forest which houses a good number of animal species.

How to get there
Egyambra with its sacred crocodiles is located 55km west of Takoradi. At Takoradi, go to the west end or ask for Tarkwa station and board a mini bus to Agona. You can also board a trotro at Agip roundabout to Agona. Take a taxi from Agona lorry station to Egyambra.

The walls which have almost all collapsed due to aging is now a tourist attraction reminiscent of the slave legacy. If Gwollu town exists today then Kudos to the wall because it did protect them from wanton destruction as a result of slavery.

There is a Shrine in this Slave Market which when evoked helped Samori and Babatu to capture more slaves for sale to the whitemen. It served as a market place where general commercial activities took place. The market unified the people. The Shrine located in this area helped Samori and Babatu to capture more slaves. Dogs do not enter the market. It is a taboo.
Dolbizan Refugee Camp
Dolbizan – Upper West Region.
There is a shrine in the Refugee Camp believed to have protected the people from a notorious slave raider – Babatu. The Dolbizan Refugee Camp is a remembrance grounds for their ancestors who fought against slavery. The shrine located at the grounds is pacified yearly for protection and unity. Babatu wanted to enslave the whole village of Dolbizan. The shrine in the village protected the people from Babatu the slave raider.
Wotuomo Slave Cave
This is situated Between Pulima and Lilixia – Upper West Region
The Henvia Clan. It is a Cave which serves as a receptacle for some local deities. The Cave helps individuals who are after bumper harvests from agriculture. Beneficiaries offer a ram or an ewe in appreciation. The spirits inside the cave are agents of retribution who reward the faithful and punish the evildoers. These are useful lessons for the people.
There is a very big Hyena in the cave which does not roar by-heart. If it does, it means a very important person of the clan will die, or is about to die.
There is also a very big python in the cave which does not appear by-heart.
There is a pool of water underneath the cave.
The cave does not accept unfired pots.
Members of the clan are not supposed to perform sexual acts amongst themselves. Whoever does so, must not appear at the cave site when it has been pacified.Such culprits are not supposed to take part in funeral rituals.
Koukpiase (Fetters of a Roan Antelope)
Located between Kong and Nankpawie – Upper West Region
The Henvia Clan. The fetters of a roan antelope which has been preserved through the amazing art of taxidermy. The fetters of the roan antelope is a symbol of unity for the Henvia clan. It is believed that the fetters are that of a roan antelope their ancestor rode on a festive day.
Wechiaw Crocodile Pond
Wechiaw – Upper west Region.
This is a pond infested with crocodiles. The landlords worship the crocodiles and the pond is a tourist attraction. The people in the area associate the crocodiles with the spirits of the land.
Gengen (Pond)
This is located behind the Wa Central Market – Upper West Region.
It is a pond in which there is water reserved for used by the people. The people drink water from the pond. One has to remove the sandals in order to enter the pond.
Kukure Pond Kaleo – Upper West Region.
This is a pond with thickly forested surroundings which protects the pond and the Crocodiles in it. The pond preserves enough water for use in the dry seasons or when there is drought. Traditional authorities pacify the spirits associated with the crocodiles every Friday. Use of Metal basins or white basins are prohibited at the pond site.
Ombo Wura
Ombo – Upper West Region.
This is a rocky mountain sticking out of the local plains at Ombo. The flat top of this rocky mountain provided shelter for the people during the slave conquests. The mountain forbids the eating of goat meat and bloodstains on it. The spirit of the mountain when evoked offers spiritual protection.
Kala Shrine
Location: Loho – Upper West Region.
This is a shrine that combat spirit forces that make people go insane. The Shrine provides herbs that cure people from snakebites. The Shrine is able to foretell future events and this cautions the people against impending dangers.The shrine taboos people bitten by snakes.
Sankana Caves
Sankana – Upper west Region. These are caves inside a rock.
Believed to have offered a hideout for the people during the slave raids. Served as bankers for the militant ones to fight the slave raiders. Offered them protection against wild animals. Gunshots and hunting is prohibited at the cave site because such acts invite the wrath of the cave gods.
Falantine Anthills
Nanville – Upper West Region.
These are Anthill sites. The Anthills cover a large expanse of land. Rituals are performed at these sites. The Anthills are a tourist attraction. Hunting is prohibited in this area. No loitering is allowed in the area.
Naa Murah
Location: Kaleo – Upper West Region
Royals of the Nayikori Gate of Kaleo. Naa Murah is a mystic revelation of the first Chief of Kaleo in the form of symbols. Naa Murah is pacified annually to satisfy the royal gate. This signifies the death of the first Chief of the gate. It is believed that the Chief disappeared and after that a symbol appeared at the outer space of the entrance with the bangle he was wearing around his neck and a spear in the middle of the bangle. On the third day, a baobab tree was seen growing in the middle of the bangle. The use of hoe is forbidden around this area.
District Commissioners’ Old Bungalow
Lawra – Upper West Region.
This architectural edifice was the dwelling place of the District Commissioner during the colonial era. It is a tourist attraction which serves as one of the remnants of the Colonial administration.
Crocodile Pond
Eremon Naa –Yiri – Upper West Region.
This is a Pond infested with crocodiles. It is a tourist attraction. It is a taboo to disturb the crocodiles with incessant noise.
